Having just gotten back from the NMHC Annual meeting a couple of weeks ago, I’m pleased to report that the industry feels in good health. Given a 2025 that saw rent growth well below forecast and a continuation of low deal volume, it’s good to see the industry is optimistic that both will improve in 2026.
At the same time, there’s a prudent caution to be sure no one gets over their skis. Which is a good segway to the most popular conversation topic during my meetings at the conference. The topic started with congratulating us on our acquisition of Markerr and quickly turned to asking what drove our decision to make that investment.
The premise is deceptively simple. We know that REBA has by far the deepest and broadest data model for managing multifamily housing operations and assets. We help operators and owners make better decisions faster, using their own data (1st party data) better than anyone else in the proptech world.
With Markerr, we now have industry-leading 3rd-party data as well. The combination of Markerr’s data into the REBA Connected Analytics Platform connects market data with internal data, extending this powerful platform even further. Here’s just a handful of ways that will drive better performance:
- We’ve already used the data to help a REBA Rent customer analyze their internal rent performance against external benchmarks to get a better understanding of how well they’re performing and drive asset-level decisions about strategy going forward
- We have often been asked to provide market-rent growth forecasts in our REBA Budget app. With Markerr’s AI-drive rent forecast engine, we will be able to do that for the upcoming 2027 budget cycle
- Asset managers can now combine important market data (not just rents, but school scores, crime statistics and other drivers of market desirability) with internal operations performance to improve their acquisition/disposition decisions and build better pro forma models
If you’re as excited about how this broader data platform can help you as we are, give us a call. And make sure you come to our 3rd Annual REBA Insights User Conference. We’ll talk about this and other ways we can scale for success together! See you in April!!
