In this interview, Real Estate Business Analytics CEO Donald Davidoff engages with Dave Marcinkowski, Partner at Madera Residential & Quext, in a compelling discussion on the intersections of real estate, technology, and visionary leadership.
Marcinkowski shares his entrepreneurial journey, beginning with the genesis of Madera Residential in Texas, motivated by both personal and professional shifts. He highlights pivotal moments that propelled Madera from managing properties to embracing technology and acquisitions, underscoring the significant financial lessons learned along the way. As a self-proclaimed “operations junkie”, Marcinkowski delves into the inception of Quext, a strategic pivot aimed at integrating advanced technology solutions into real estate operations.
His narrative is not only about growth and innovation but also about fostering a collaborative industry ethos, moving away from traditional competitive instincts to a more cooperative and progressive model. Reflecting on the industry’s technological lag, Dave discusses the power of Moore’s Law, specifically the notion that “technology is doubling every two years. So, if we're not doubling with it, you're going to get left behind."
Dave also shares the importance of data; emphasizing the transformative power of data-driven decision-making in multifamily, particularly how essential it is for property management and technological integration. He highlights the need for larger, more comprehensive data sets to better inform decisions and the importance of responsibly and anonymously integrating data to enhance operational efficiencies.
Marcinkowski believes that having access to better data can significantly improve the ways properties are managed and operated, aligning closely with his focus on innovation and technological advancement in the real estate sector.
