Azure Data Engineer

THE OPPORTUNITY

Real Estate Business Analytics (REBA) is on a mission to change how apartment owners and operators use data. A well-funded, 3+ year-old start-up software company in the real estate technology space is seeking an Azure Data Engineer to help contribute to the continued development of a state-of-the-art, cloud-based business intelligence solution and related applications. With the direction of an established and experienced leadership team, this position will employ Azure data services to build out new features in our advanced data platform, data warehouse, and analytics model to package and implement our applications to various industry clients. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced self-starter to get in early on a modern business intelligence development effort. As the company grows, there will also be opportunities to transition into other related software design and development initiatives.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design, create, and implement Azure data solutions
  • Create and support ETL processes to facilitate the acquisition of data using Azure Data Factory and other methods, such as direct connections, flat file loads, and API calls
  • Design and support REBA data solutions, Azure SQL databases, and table schemas for new and existing customer data sources using Visual Studio database projects and GIT
  • Collaborate with Chief Product Officer, Chief Technology Officer, and other data engineers to establish and follow best practices and design principles for Azure Data Warehousing techniques and architecture to move data from landing to staging tables using T-SQL
  • Collaborate with SysOps and DevOps engineers to holistically manage the Azure infrastructure
  • Collaborate with SysOps engineer on security and implementing manageable security models for external users
  • Assist REBA’s technical implementation team in onboarding new clients and their data

 

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Required Experience

  • 3+ years of SQL Server Databases and Warehousing
  • 3+ years of Azure Data Warehousing
  • 3+ years of Microsoft’s ETL processes using SSIS and Azure Data Factory
  • 3+ years of T-SQL with substantial hands-on experience in developing complex queries

Microsoft Azure & Related Expertise

  • Working knowledge of Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, and source control using GIT
  • Logical and physical data modeling
  • Stored procedure development to support BI and related applications
  • Experience using common table expressions (CTE) and window functions
  • Azure Data Factory and T-SQL performance tuning
  • Overall architecture and implementation best practices as it relates to Azure BI solutions
  • Strong understanding of dimensional modeling as well as other data warehousing techniques
  • Experience working with Power BI or any other business intelligence platforms
  • Azure certifications such as r.t Azure Data Factory pipelines and SQL database preferred


Communication and Other Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage constantly changing and sometimes conflicting priorities
  • Experience working in collaborative settings with both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Experience in multifamily housing and/or single-family rental environments preferred


Preferred Skills

  • Property management systems (Yardi, MRI, Entrata, etc.)
  • Revenue management systems
  • Financial management systems (budgeting and forecasting)
  • Business intelligence or reporting systems (PMS or third-party reporting systems)
  • Data/technology-related project management
